Groundwater hydrologists (also known as hydrogeologists) study the movement, availability, and chemistry (quality) of groundwater resources. SNR hydrogeologists have:
- Studied the role of groundwater in maintain and sustaining groundwater dependent ecosystems such as the eastern saline wetlands and Sandhills fens.
- Investigated the distribution and impacts of both point source and non-point source contaminants across the state.
- Modelled groundwater flow and groundwater-surface water interaction in the Republican and Platte River Basins
- Quantified evapotransporative (ET) flux and the groundwater flow in meeting wetland ET demand to compensate for ongoing climate changes.
