Water Resources & Climate Change

The Earth's climate controls the availability of water for agricultural producers, energy providers, water suppliers, natural resource managers and others.  Examples of current climate and water research at SNR include:

  • historical relationships between soil moisture and groundwater
  • ways to improve streamflow measurements and drought forecasts
  • using tracers to understand water flow and climate change effects
  • historical geology and evolution of ground and surface water in the Nebraska Sand Hills and High Plains aquifers
  • improved soil water and drought monitoring technologies
